Ossipee Lake
Welcome to Ossipee Lake New Hampshire
Ossipee Lake is located in Carroll County in eastern New Hampshire. It's the sixth-largest lake in New Hampshire. The lake is fed by the West Branch (entering from the north), the Bearcamp and Lovell rivers (entering from the west), and the Pine River (from the south). Water leaves the eastern end of the lake via the Ossipee River, flowing into the Saco River in Maine.
Ossipee Lake is a popular vacation site. The land surrounding the lake is home to numerous condo, cabin, and lake house developments. As in most lakes regions, some buildings are available for vacation rentals, and many of the developments have private beaches.
With many private homes around Deer Cove and Long Sands, it makes a perfect place to call home in the Ossippe area. Since the lake is protected by state and local laws it remains a welcome spot for recreation and wildlife alike.
LONG SANDS - This is a State-owned Ossipee Lake Natural Area and is the rarest and most threatened of the lake's special places.
With over 400 acres of extensive undeveloped shoreline on the southern part of the big lake, it is New Hampshire's finest remaining example of a coastal plain pondshore, boasting an display of rare plant species and birds. Biologists studying the preserve have found that it harbors natural communities that are not known to exist elsewhere in the world. Additionally, the New Hampshire Division of Historical Resources claims that the Natural Area contains the remains of some of our area's oldest settlements.
WESTWARD SHORES - Located on the northwest shore of Ossipee Lake is Westward Shores. Just minutes from Ossipee Center and Ossipee Shores with it's shops, dining, and attractions.
